What does Hinduism teach about war?
One of the most looked up man for Hindus was Mahatma Gandhi and he didn’t use violence most of the time. Instead he used a term which is called ‘ahimsa’. This term means non-violence so this meant that Gandhi used different method such as sit-ins demonstrations. These demonstrations had massive impact on people especially for the event of the Salt March. He used ahimsa which symbolised that he was brave, dignified and committed to his work and that he also managed to show that not all battles have to be fought with the use of a weapon. He was able to prove this due to process of his non-violence and demonstrations which made him a significant character in the future.
Recent case of a war/conflict:
One of the main events which had taken place was related to Hinduism and it was the Kashmir Conflict. The Kashmir conflict was a dispute over the territory of Kashmir. The dispute is between India and Pakistan. India claims the entire region that was once a significant state. It currently controls about 43% of the territory. India's claims are disputed by Pakistan, which controls about 37% of Kashmir. Pakistan says there should be a referendum in Kashmir on whether the people want to join India or Pakistan, or become independent. This conflict started during the partition of India which was in 1947-1948. Since then the conflict has been going on since 1989 for independence for the entire state. In the end the region had to been divided into two with a boundary dividing it called the Line of Control.
